The origins of Paringa Wines & our name
The name “Paringa” reflects our partnership with nature; it derives from the local Aboriginal language for “place at the river”.
Farming one of the driest continents on earth, water and rivers have always been a major player in the vineyards; none more than the Mighty Murray.
The River Murray is to Australia what the Mississippi is to America, and the Rhine is to Europe.
Paringa has been twice listed as one of the top 100 wines in the world – 2002 & 2013, receiving numerous 90 point ratings & Best Value and Best Buy Listings.
2000 Paringa Cabernet was the first Australian low cost, high value $10 USD retail wine to score 90 Points.
2001 Paringa Shiraz scored 90 points and appeared on the front cover!
Number 8 ‘Best Value Wine’ by Wine Enthusiast in 2017, the only 90-point wine retailing for $10!
